Galatasaray stun Liverpool as Chelsea edge Benfica in UCL action

In a thrilling night of UEFA Champions League action, Galatasaray secured a 1-0 victory over Liverpool thanks to a 16th-minute penalty from Victor Osimhen. The defending English champions protested for an equaliser late on after Ibrahima Konate went down in the box, but VAR overturned the decision, leaving Liverpool to rue missed chances. Goalkeeper Alisson Becker’s second-half injury forced further tweaks, and the introductions of Mohamed Salah and Alexander Isak were unable to spark a comeback.

Meanwhile, Chelsea returned to winning ways with a narrow 1-0 win over Benfica in a special reunion as Jose Mourinho faced his former side. Alejandro Garnacho’s whipped cross deflected off Richard Rios into the net in the 18th minute, and despite a late red card for Joao Pedro, Chelsea held on to claim all three points.

Elsewhere, Kylian Mbappe lit up the pitch with a hat-trick for Real Madrid in their win in Kazakhstan. Tottenham Hotspur fought back to earn a point against Bodo/Glimt, while Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, Marseille and Inter Milan all recorded impressive victories to shake up the group stages.

With Liverpool now looking ahead to a weekend showdown at Stamford Bridge, the group tables are already heating up. Can the Reds bounce back? And will Chelsea build on their momentum against Mourinho’s Benfica? Stay tuned as Europe’s elite competition continues to deliver drama and surprises.
