Miroslaw Shatters Speed Climbing WR to Claim 3rd World Title

At the IFSC Climbing World Championships in Seoul, Poland’s reigning Olympic gold medalist Aleksandra Miroslaw rewrote the record books on Wednesday. In a stunning display of speed and precision, the 31-year-old blazed up the wall in 6.03 seconds—shaving 0.03 seconds off her own benchmark—to secure her third world title.

In a rematch of last year’s Paris Summer Olympics final, Miroslaw edged out China’s Deng Lijuan, who posted a season-best 6.22 seconds despite battling injuries. "This one is special. After the Olympics, the next year is tough for every athlete who took part, so I’m happy for this one. I think my hard work has paid off," Miroslaw said.

China’s depth was on full display, with all six of its athletes advancing to the quarterfinals. Zhou Yafei claimed bronze by defeating South Korean home favorite Jeong Ji-min in 6.34 seconds—her first-ever World Championships medal.

With a blend of raw power and refined technique, Miroslaw’s record-breaking ascent underscores the razor-thin margins at the sport’s elite level. As speed climbing continues to electrify fans worldwide, this milestone run sets a new standard for rivals and raises the bar ahead of next year’s Olympic qualifiers.
