China has guaranteed the women's singles crown at the WTT Champions Macao after four of its players stormed into the semifinals, setting the stage for an all-Chinese final in the Macao SAR.
In a high-octane quarterfinal clash, World No. 1 Sun Yingsha edged out Puerto Rico's Adriana Diaz 4-1. The 24-year-old defending champion dropped the opener 12-10 after Diaz rallied from 10-7, but Sun bounced back to dominate the next four games 11-7, 11-9, 11-9 and 11-7, securing her spot in the last four. She will face compatriot Kuai Man in the semifinals.
Meanwhile, World No. 2 Wang Manyu was in relentless form against the Macao SAR's Zhu Yuling, sweeping her compatriot 4-0. Wang claimed the opening game 11-7, overturned a 10-8 deficit in the second to win 12-10, then closed out the third 12-10 and the fourth 11-3. Her reward is a semifinal showdown with Chen Xingtong.
With Sun, Kuai, Wang and Chen all through to the semis, China's dominance in women's table tennis is on full display. Expect fierce battles as top talents vie for gold in Macao.
