At the FM Championship in Boston, ranked 187th in the world, China’s Wang Xinying shot rounds of 66, 67, 65 and 70 to finish 20-under-par 268 and clinch her maiden LPGA title.
Resisting a late charge from world No.1 Jeeno Thitikul, Wang held on to win by a single stroke. Thitikul’s valiant performance marked her tenth top-10 and third runner-up finish of the season.
Wang’s victory makes her the 11th first-time winner of the 2025 LPGA season and the seventh rookie to taste victory this year. It also cements her status as the 24th different champion in 23 events on the 2025 tour.
She is only the third player from the Chinese mainland to lift an LPGA trophy, joining a compatriot who won 10 titles and Yin Ruoning, who owns five.
For a golfer who started the season outside the top 150, this breakthrough highlights the depth of talent on the LPGA and signals a new wave of contenders ready to make their mark.
