Late Comeback Sees PSG Edge Tottenham on Penalties for UEFA Super Cup

Paris Saint-Germain lifted the UEFA Super Cup in dramatic fashion on Wednesday evening in Udine, Italy, edging Europa League winners Tottenham Hotspur 4-3 on penalties after a 2-2 draw.

Tottenham, who finished 17th in the English Premier League last season, stunned PSG with a Micky Van de Ven goal off a rebound in the 39th minute and a Cristian Romero header three minutes into the second half.

But PSG, fresh off hoisting their first Champions League trophy in May, mounted a late comeback. Two goals in the final five minutes forced extra time and set the stage for a tense shootout.

In the penalty shootout, PSG converted four of five spot-kicks, sealing a 4-3 victory and claiming the club’s first UEFA Super Cup crown.

The win adds early silverware to PSG’s season and delivers a stark reminder to global football fans of the game’s unpredictability—where momentum can shift in an instant and heroes emerge under the brightest lights.
