Shenzhen, Chinese mainland – In a ceremony filled with modern flair and cultural pride, the torch for China’s 15th National Games, 12th National Para Games, and 9th National Special Olympics was unveiled on Saturday. Nicknamed "Blossom," the design celebrates the shared Lingnan heritage of Guangdong Province, the Hong Kong SAR, and the Macao SAR as "three regions as one family."
He Ye, the torch’s lead designer, says the core philosophy of "fusion and glory" captures the spirit of exchange, integration, and shared prosperity in the Greater Bay Area. The flame nozzle echoes the event’s wave-like emblem, intertwining the Guangdong kapok, the Hong Kong bauhinia, and the Macao lotus into a single uplifting motif.
Standing 76 centimeters tall, weighing 1.6 kilograms, and boasting a 125-millimeter flame port, the gold-colored torch uses a modular build of high-strength 3D-printed stainless steel and temperature-resistant aluminium alloy. Its streamlined metal frame is grounded by a peony pattern at the base, symbolizing unity and prosperity across the three host regions.
The unveiling also debuted the official victory ceremony music, podium attire, and the "United Warmth" medals for the National Para Games. The new anthem weaves in the classic Lingnan melody "Color Clouds Chasing the Moon," while medalists will don pink mamianqun-inspired podium attire with Yue embroidery–inspired peony details.
Jointly hosted by Guangdong Province, the Hong Kong SAR, and the Macao SAR, the 15th National Games of China run from November 9 to 21. The 12th National Para Games and the 9th National Special Olympics will follow roughly two weeks later, promising a spectacle of sport, culture, and regional unity.
