China Clinches Mixed Team Diving Gold at World Aquatics Championships

China opened its diving campaign at the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore with a commanding victory in the mixed team final. The event spans four rounds, alternating between the 3-meter springboard and 10-meter platform, testing both precision and composure.

The quartet of Chen Yiwen, Chen Yuxi, Cao Yuan, and newcomer Cheng Zilong delivered a composed performance, scoring a total of 466.25 points\u0007nearly 40 points clear of Mexico and sealing the gold ahead of Japan\u0007s third-place finish.

"This was the first time for all four of us to compete in the mixed team event at a World Championships, so we're especially happy," Chen Yiwen said. Despite an early mistake on her 305B springboard dive, which earned 58.50 points, the team rallied on the platform to reclaim the lead and hold it through the final round.

Chen Yuxi credited the team\u0007s resilience: "Everyone did their best and fought hard for the team. There might be areas where we can improve, but we all gave it everything we had." For 17-year-old Cheng Zilong, making his World Championships debut only added to the thrill: "It\u0007s an incredible feeling to win gold with these older teammates."

In the evening session, Australia\u0007s Maddison Keeney secured gold in the women\u0007s 1-meter springboard final with 308.00 points. China\u0007s Li Yajie followed with silver at 290.25 points, while Italy\u0007s Chiara Pellacani claimed bronze. Reflecting on her performance, Keeney said, "It\u0007s great practice under pressure, and I\u0007ll keep pushing toward the 2028 Olympic Games, injury-free."
