China Falter in Five-Set Thriller Against Poland

China’s women’s volleyball team suffered a narrow 3-2 defeat to hosts Poland on Wednesday, ending their bid for a semifinal spot at the FIVB Nations League.

The match was a rollercoaster from the start. China dominated the first set 25-17, forcing Poland to burn two timeouts before conceding. In the second frame, however, Poland roared back, claiming a 25-20 win to even the score.

The pendulum swung again as China edged the third set 25-19, only to see Poland mirror them in the fourth at 25-19. The decider was a true test of nerves: China grabbed an early lead, but a series of unforced errors handed Poland three match points, and a decisive spike sealed a 15-13 victory.

For coach Zhao Yong, the result was frustrating yet revealing. "We played with passion and technique, but key moments slipped away," he admitted. "Our inexperience in closing out tight sets showed against a battle-tested opponent."

China’s path to the semifinal now hinges on other results, but this dramatic loss will linger as a lesson in composure under pressure.
