The 2025 World University Games in Berlin witnessed rising talent on the men’s 1m springboard: Zhang Wenao delivered a gold-medal performance after turning an early deficit into a dominant lead.

Zhang opened with 69.00 points on his first dive, then soared to 77.50 in round two to claim the top spot. He stayed consistent throughout, closing with a total score of 425.85 to secure Italy’s top prize.

Teammate Hu Yukang climbed from fifth to silver. After a shaky start that left him in eighth, Hu recalibrated mid-event and scored 72.00 on his final dive, finishing with 368.75 points.

Home favorite Tim Axer thrilled local fans by earning bronze with 354.80 points, underlining the fierce competition at this global university sports showcase.
