Han Yue Battles Through Three-Game Thriller to Reach China Open Last 16

Changzhou, Jiangsu Province – The 2025 BWF World Tour Super 1000 China Open kicked off with thrilling matches on the opening day, as top talent battled for a spot in the last 16.

In women’s singles, China’s Han Yue faced Japan’s Natsuki Nidaira in a high-stakes rematch of three previous encounters, all won by Han. The opening game saw Han dominate with precise shot placement, racing to a 21-9 lead. Nidaira pushed back in the second, capitalizing on unforced errors to take the frame 21-12 and level the match.

The decider was a tense affair, with Han holding a slim lead throughout. At 20-15, Nidaira struck for two quick points, but Han steadied herself and sealed a scintillating return winner for a 21-17 victory. The win extends Han’s unbeaten run against Nidaira and secures her place in the round of 16.

On the mixed doubles court, Chinese duo Guo Xinwa and Chen Fanghui challenged Denmark’s reigning European champions Jesper Toft and Emily Magelund for the first time. The Danes took the opener 21-17, but Guo and Chen adjusted tactics to edge a tight second game 21-19. Riding that momentum, they powered through the decider 21-14 to advance alongside Han.

With the intensity rising, Han Yue and the Guo/Chen pairing will look to build on their momentum as they chase glory at one of badminton’s most prestigious Super 1000 events.
