The Chinese team added two silver medals at the 2025 World Aquatics Championships on Monday, showcasing a new generation of artistic swimming talent.
In a sensational performance, 17-year-old Guo Muye claimed silver in the men’s solo free routine with a score of 220.1926, improving on his fourth-place finish in the solo technical final. Gold went to Aleksandr Maltsev (229.5613), while Italy’s Filippo Pelati earned bronze (213.9850).
Twin sisters Lin Yanhan and Lin Yanjun were equally impressive in the women’s duet technical final. Their routine, themed “Warriors of moon shadow,” earned 301.4057 points and second place behind Austria’s Anna-Maria and Eirini-Marina Alexandri. Neutral athletes Mayya Doroshko and Tatiana Gayday took bronze.
After ranking second in preliminaries with 301.0933 points, Lin Yanhan reflected on the final: “We saw room for improvement after watching our rivals’ videos. There’s still a significant gap, and we’re driven to close it.”
Guo Muye also set his sights on gold: “I’m happy with the silver, but it’s not the top prize yet. I need to boost the height and lines of my routines and engage more with the judges.”
These results underline China’s rising presence in artistic swimming and hint at even stronger performances ahead.
