China’s Zhang Shuai stamped her ticket to the final round of Wimbledon women’s singles qualifying with a commanding straight-sets win over the USA’s Whitney Osuigwe.
In just 58 minutes, Zhang cruised to a 6-2, 6-4 victory, powered by a dominant service game. She won 75% of her first-serve points and converted 62% of her second serves, compared to Osuigwe’s 58% and 44%, respectively.
The result underlines Zhang’s blend of precision and power as she eyes a place in the main draw at SW19.
Elsewhere, Zhang’s compatriot Wang Xiyu saw her run come to an end after falling in straight sets to Cyprus’s Georgiana Serban, missing out on the final qualifying round.
