PSG Shut Out Seattle Sounders 2-0 to Reach Club World Cup Round of 16

Paris Saint-Germain flexed its European muscle Monday at Seattle’s Lumen Field, shutting out the Sounders 2-0 to top Group B and secure a spot in the round of 16 at the FIFA Club World Cup.

The breakthrough came in the 35th minute when Vitinha’s driven shot, destined to miss wide, struck Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and deflected into the net. PSG doubled their lead in the 66th minute after Seattle’s transition defence opened gaps, allowing Achraf Hakimi to latch onto Bradley Barcola’s pass and finish at the back post.

Defensively, PSG was impeccable, denying Seattle a single shot on target and showcasing a disciplined backline. Lumen Field’s 68,740 seats witnessed 50,628 fans come alive, especially as hometown hero Jordan Morris returned from injury to a rousing ovation.

By winning Group B on goal difference after Atletico Madrid’s 1-0 victory over Botafogo, PSG now prepares for a last-16 clash with Inter Miami on Sunday at Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Seattle’s elimination, however, underlines MLS’s rising profile on the global stage.
