Shenhua Outlasts Port in CFA Cup Derby with Andre Luis Hat-Trick

Shanghai Shenhua claimed a thrilling 3-2 victory over city rivals Shanghai Port away in the Chinese FA Cup round of 16, booking their quarterfinal berth in style. The drama was fuelled by captain Wu Xi’s creative mastery—three assists—and Brazilian striker Andre Luis’s first career hat-trick.

The breakthrough arrived just before halftime. Wu Xi delivered a picture-perfect cross from the left flank into a crowded box, where Luis rose to head home the opener.

Not to be outdone, Port hit back early in the second half. Gabriel Souza, capitalizing on Feng Jin’s slick pass, finished clinically to level the score.

Shenhua answered within minutes. Gao Tianyi’s free kick glanced off Wu Xi, dropping at Luis’s feet. He didn’t hesitate, tapping in Shenhua’s second.

Port’s substitute Gustavo Henrique then found the net to pull the game back to 2-2, setting up a nerve-jangling finale.

With the clock winding down, Wu Xi threaded a razor-sharp ball through the defence. Luis latched on, rounded the keeper and slotted home, completing his hat-trick and sending Shenhua into celebration.

Next up for Shanghai Shenhua: a quarterfinal showdown with Henan FC. For Shanghai Port, the derby defeat is a lesson in resilience as the Chinese FA Cup drama continues.
