Tatjana Maria, 37, Claims Queen’s Club Crown

In a stunning display of tenacity and skill, German qualifier Tatjana Maria, 37, was crowned the Queen of Queen's Club at the WTA 500 tournament in London on Sunday.

Maria's journey to the final was a masterclass in resilience. She knocked out four top 20 opponents – Karolina Muchova, Elena Rybakina, Madison Keys and Amanda Anisimova – becoming the oldest singles champion on the WTA Tour since Serena Williams won the 2020 Auckland Classic at age 38.

On the grass courts of Queen's Club, Maria drew energy from her family: daughters Charlotte and Cecilia cheered from the stands alongside husband-coach Charles-Edouard Maria. She said the victory means a lot to her and proves that at any age, big trophies are still within reach.

With this win, Maria jumps from No. 86 to No. 43 in the world rankings on Monday. Already a former Wimbledon semifinalist, she now heads into the grass-court season as a dark horse for Grand Slam success.

Maria's WTA career spans three continents: grass titles at Mallorca in 2018, clay triumphs in Bogota in 2022 and 2023, and now her landmark WTA 500 victory in London. As she continues to defy age norms, global fans will be watching closely at the upcoming Wimbledon Championships.
