Taklimakan Rally Wraps Up 13-Day, 4,000+ km Desert Marathon

Over 13 adrenaline-fueled days in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, competitors in the Taklimakan Rally conquered some of Asia's harshest terrains, racing across deserts, gravel plains, rivers, and mountain trails.

This year's route saw competitors tackle over 4,000 kilometers of race action across 10 timed stages totalling 2,350 kilometers, all embedded within an overall itinerary of around 5,200 kilometers.

After enduring shifting sands and rocky obstacles, Liu Yangui and navigator Chen Feng of the Shan'xi Yunxiang Team clinched the car category crown in a blistering time of 27:08:15. This marked Liu's second Taklimakan victory, following his first win in 2014.

Hot on their heels were Tao Yongming and co-driver Shen Xin from the Hebei Qian'an Jiujiang Auto and Motorcycle Sports Club, who took second, while Lin Dewei and navigator Wang Yang of the Duonai Shock Absorber Team secured the third spot on the podium.

In the motorcycle division, the Hoto Factory Racing Team's Martin Michek topped the standings in 28:31:04. His Lithuanian teammate Arunas Gelazninkas claimed second place, and China's Shi Haoyu rounded out the top three, showcasing the event's truly international field.

As the dust settles on this year's epic desert marathon, the Taklimakan Rally continues to set the bar for off-road endurance, uniting global talent in a test of skill, strategy, and sheer willpower.
