Scheffler Fends Off Griffin to Defend Memorial Title

World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler has successfully defended his title at the Memorial Tournament, claiming his 16th career PGA Tour win in Dublin, Ohio. The 28-year-old fired a two-under-par 70 on Sunday to finish 10-under-par 278 at Muirfield Village.

American Ben Griffin, fresh off his breakthrough victory at Colonial, shot a 73 to close at six-under-par 282, four strokes behind Scheffler. Austria's Sepp Straka finished third at five-under-par 283, one stroke ahead of Canada's Nick Taylor.

'It's always a tough week to play this tournament,' Scheffler said. 'I battled really hard over the weekend, and Ben made things interesting down the stretch.'

This win marks Scheffler's third triumph in a month and his ninth consecutive victory when holding a 54-hole lead. By taking his first 16 titles in just over three and a half years, he became the fourth-fastest player to reach that milestone, joining Sam Snead, Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods.

With Oakmont's US Open just two weeks away, Scheffler arrives as the man to beat, aiming for a fourth major and a second straight Grand Slam title.
