In a historic move, the Brazilian Football Confederation confirmed on Monday that Carlo Ancelotti will become the first non-Brazilian head coach in the national team's illustrious history. The announcement also means that the Italian tactician will not lead Real Madrid at the forthcoming Club World Cup in the United States.
Speaking at a press conference, Ancelotti said he remains fully committed to his current role at Real Madrid: "The days I have left here, and out of the great respect I have for this club, its fans, and its players, I am completely focused on what I have to do in this final stretch of this spectacular adventure," he explained ahead of Wednesday's match at home to Mallorca.
When asked about the timing of his departure statements, he added, "Real Madrid will issue the statement whenever it wants; there's no problem. It will do it at the time it wants and considers appropriate; as the Brazilian Confederation did yesterday. Everyone acts as they see best."
Ancelotti then looked ahead to his new beginning: "I know exactly what these two weeks are going to be like, preparing for the three remaining matches with Real Madrid. And then, on the 26th, I have something else to do," he insisted, hinting at an exciting chapter leading Brazil.
