In a commanding display in the Chinese Basketball Association semifinals, the Guangsha Lions defeated the Liaoning Flying Leopards 110-84 on Monday, securing a 2-0 lead in the best-of-five series.
Early momentum swung when Joshua Carlton drove in for a fade-away jumper, cutting the deficit to three. James Nunnally responded with a triple, pushing the Lions ahead 28-20.
Guangsha guard Barry Brown Jr. seized control, finishing a fast break with a lay-up and draining deep-range shots to rack up a game-high 30 points. Meanwhile, Liaoning’s Sun Minghui picked up his fourth foul and sat out a crucial stretch.
After returning from the bench, Sun found Zhu Junlong for a lay-up that extended Guangsha’s lead to 21 points. Even with an arm injury, forward Wu Xiao drew a foul under the basket, sank a one-handed free throw and added more at the line to seal the win.
With confidence high, the Lions head to Liaoning on Thursday aiming to complete the series sweep and advance to the CBA finals.
