China Falls to Switzerland at World Curling Championship

At the 2025 World Men's Curling Championship in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, China suffered a setback in their pursuit of Olympic glory. The team, featuring Xu Xiaoming, Fei Xueqing, Wang Zhiyu, and Li Zhichao, struggled early as Switzerland surged ahead.

Switzerland built its momentum when their fourth player delivered a precise draw, scoring two points and extending the lead from a 2-0 start in the second end to 4-1, eventually widening to 6-2. By the ninth end, with a 7-2 lead, Chinaโ€™s skip Xu managed only a single point, and the match concluded with a 7-3 victory for Switzerland.

Although this result means China missed out on direct qualification for the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics, the team still has an opportunity to chase Olympic dreams through a December qualifying event. Their upcoming challenge is a bronze medal game against Canada, where renewed determination could mark their best finish at the Championships.

The high-stakes contest and evolving Olympic scenarios continue to captivate sports fans and inspire global enthusiasts, reinforcing the vibrant spirit of international curling.
