Liverpool Triumph Over Man City, Expands Premier League Lead to 11 Points

Liverpool made a significant leap towards the Premier League title on Sunday with a convincing 2-0 victory over Manchester City, creating an 11-point gap over Arsenal at the summit of the table.

Mohamed Salah once again proved to be Liverpool's standout performer, netting his 30th goal of the season and assisting Dominik Szoboszlai for the second goal before halftime.

\"It is special. Especially when you are in the title race, it is incredible,\" Salah remarked after Liverpool's first league win at the Etihad Stadium in a decade. \"Me and the big guys in the team, we need another title.\"

This win comes just days after Liverpool's exit from the Champions League to Real Madrid, marking another setback for the reigning English champions who are now 20 points behind the leaders.

Under Arne Slot's management in his first season, Liverpool now seems poised to challenge Manchester United's record of 20 English top-flight titles. \"We work every single day to achieve this and it is three months of very hard work (ahead) to maintain this,\" said Slot. \"It is important to understand why we are where we are.\"

Arsenal's unexpected 1-0 home loss to West Ham on Saturday relieved some pressure on Liverpool, which had been mounting after dropping points in two of their last three matches against Everton and Aston Villa.

Manchester City's defensive issues were laid bare without the influence of the injured Erling Haaland, allowing Liverpool to secure a crucial away win. In contrast, Liverpool benefitted from the full fitness of their talisman, with Salah achieving an impressive tally of 25 goals and 16 assists in just 27 Premier League appearances.

In other Premier League action, Newcastle dazzled with four goals in the first 11 minutes to secure a thrilling 4-3 victory over Nottingham Forest, boosting their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League.
