Matteo Berrettini Defeats Novak Djokovic in Qatar Open Upset

In a stunning surprise at the Qatar Open, Italian tennis star Matteo Berrettini pulled off an impressive victory against Serbia's Novak Djokovic, winning 7-6(4), 6-2 in the first round on Tuesday. This marks Berrettini's first win over the former world No. 1, breaking his four-match losing streak against Djokovic.

Berrettini showcased his exceptional skills, dominating the match in just one hour and 35 minutes. \"It's something that I've been looking to do,\" said the former world No. 6. \"I played against him in the most important tournaments on tour, had the honor and the pleasure to play against him. I wish I could have won one of those matches as well.\"

This victory is particularly significant for Berrettini, who was voted the Association of Tennis Professionals' (ATP) comeback player last year. He now advances to face Dutchman Tallon Griekspoor in the next round.

On the other side, Djokovic, a 24-time Grand Slam winner aiming for his 100th ATP title, was playing his first singles match since retiring from the Australian Open semi-finals due to a hamstring injury.
