In a thrilling all-English final at London's Alexandra Palace, Shaun Murphy emerged victorious over Kyren Wilson with a score of 10-7, securing his first Triple Crown title in a decade.
Murphy dominated the early stages, leading 6-2 after the first session. Despite a spirited comeback from Wilson, who reduced the deficit to 8-7 by the end of the session, Murphy held strong in the crucial frames. In the 16th frame, Wilson's attempt at a long red missed the target, allowing Murphy to capitalize with a 55-point break, extending his lead to 9-7.
The final frame saw Murphy rolling a century break of 100, his fourth of the match, to seal the victory. Reflecting on his achievement, Murphy shared, \"It's totally unbelievable, I'm in shock. I genuinely thought that my days of competing for these Triple Crown events had gone.\"
The 42-year-old \"The Magician\" credited his resurgence to working with Peter Ebdon, which helped him overcome a period of negativity and bad losses.
With this win, Murphy adds to his Triple Crown collection, having previously won the 2005 World Championship, 2008 UK Championship, and 2015 Masters. He also becomes only the 12th player to win the Masters multiple times, marking one of the best days of his life.
