Novak Djokovic continues his quest for a 25th Grand Slam title with a commanding 6-1, 6-7(4), 6-3, 6-2 victory over Portuguese qualifier Jaime Faria in the second round of the Australian Open.
Facing his 430th Grand Slam match, Djokovic overcame a challenging start as Faria, making his Grand Slam debut, pushed the world number 1 to the edge by taking the second set in a tense tiebreaker.
Despite the early setback, Djokovic, coached by Andy Murray, regained control in the third set, breaking Faria's serve to go up 4-2 and ultimately shutting down the 21-year-old qualifier in the fourth set.
This win moves Djokovic out of a tie with Roger Federer, setting the stage for another record-breaking campaign at Melbourne Park.
Up next, Djokovic will face Czech player Tomas Machac in the third round, continuing his strong performance in the tournament.
