The Chinese Football Association (CFA) has unveiled its lineup for the upcoming 2025 season, admitting 49 clubs into the professional leagues. Among those granted entry is reigning Chinese Super League (CSL) champion Shanghai Port, signaling another competitive season ahead.
However, the list notably excludes some heavyweight teams. Eight-time CSL champions Guangzhou FC, alongside Cangzhou Mighty Lions and Hunan Xiangtao from the second and third divisions respectively, did not secure a spot for the new season. The exclusion comes after stringent criteria, including material submission, approval by member associations, debt repayment announcements, and resolution of any outstanding complaints within the stipulated timeframe.
The CFA stated that it will continue to engage with clubs that were unable to obtain eligibility due to arrears and debts, emphasizing its commitment to maintaining financial stability within the leagues.
