The Liaoning Flying Leopards delivered a spectacular performance, cruising past the Xinjiang Flying Tigers with a commanding score of 115-89 in tonight's Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) showdown.
Dez Wells was the star of the night, exploding for a season-high 50 points and making history as the first player to sink 11 three-pointers in a single game for the three-time defending champions. His exceptional scoring prowess was the driving force behind Liaoning's third consecutive victory.
Both teams were missing key players due to injuries, adding an extra layer of intensity to the matchup. Liaoning entered the game ranked sixth in the standings, while Xinjiang held the third spot. Their previous encounter this season saw Xinjiang clinch the win in Urumqi.
The game kicked off in Shenyang with Liaoning's Wang Lanqin landing a three-pointer, setting the stage for a high-energy contest. The lead changed hands multiple times as both teams battled fiercely, but Wells' relentless scoring helped Liaoning secure a 12-point lead by the end of the first quarter.
In the second quarter, Wells continued his hot shooting, nailing several three-pointers while Xinjiang struggled with fouls and turnovers. This allowed Liaoning to expand their lead to 21 points. Although Xinjiang attempted a comeback, led by rookie Yang Rui's three-pointers and explosive dunks, Liaoning held a 15-point advantage at halftime, with Wells amassing 30 points.
The second half saw Liaoning extend their dominance as Xinjiang couldn't find their rhythm. Supported by stellar performances from Wang and Wells, Liaoning maintained their commanding lead throughout the game, eventually celebrating a decisive 26-point victory.
In addition to his 50-point feat, Wells contributed 2 rebounds and 6 assists. Wang added 20 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists, while Han Dejun chipped in with 11 points, 13 rebounds, and 4 assists.
For Xinjiang, Dedric Lawson recorded a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds, and Elfuratt Mohetaner added 13 points and 8 rebounds.
