Swiss Olympic Snowboarder Sophie Hediger Dies in Avalanche

Sophie Hediger, a talented 26-year-old snowboard cross athlete from Switzerland, tragically lost her life in an avalanche at the Arosa resort on Monday.

Hediger, a member of Switzerland's snowboard cross team at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics, competed in both the women's individual and mixed team events. During the 2023-24 season, she climbed the ranks with two World Cup podium finishes, including a remarkable second-place finish in St. Moritz in January.

Swiss-Ski CEO Walter Reusser expressed deep sorrow, stating, \"We are shocked and our thoughts are with Sophie's family, to whom we offer our deepest condolences. She lost her life tragically, brutally and far too soon.\"
