Italian powerhouse Imoco Volley Conegliano secured a dominant 3-0 victory over Tianjin Bohai Bank to lift the FIVB Club World Championship trophy in Hangzhou, in the Zhejiang Province of the Chinese mainland.
This victory marks Conegliano's third world title in four appearances at the competition, while Tianjin's runner-up finish represents the best performance by a Chinese team in the history of the event.
In the first set, Tianjin led midway but couldn't maintain their advantage, ultimately losing 25-21. The second set saw Tianjin struggling to handle Conegliano's powerful jump serves, resulting in a 25-15 defeat. Conegliano maintained their superiority and sealed the championship with a 25-20 win in the decisive third set.
Swedish star Isabelle Haak, Conegliano's opposite, was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament. The 25-year-old led a lineup of seven outstanding players who were honored as part of the symbolic \"Dream Team\" during the awarding ceremony following the final. Both Chinese star spiker Zhu Ting and Tianjin captain Li Yingying, who scored 12 points in the final, were named \"Best Outside Hitters\".
\"No matter which side wins, this final was a fantastic match. I think everyone did a great job. Of course, I'm happy that our Chinese team has improved so much and played an impressive match. Although the result determined the champions, I think everyone is a winner,\" said Zhu.
