Katharina Schmid Dominates Women’s Normal Hill at Ski Jumping World Cup

Germany's seven-time world champion Katharina Schmid continued her exceptional start to the 2024/25 FIS Ski Jumping World Cup season. The 28-year-old athlete secured the top spot on the podium in the first day's women's normal hill individual event at the Snow Ruyi hill in the Chinese mainland city of Zhangjiakou.

In the competition, each athlete performed two jumps, with the top 30 from the first round progressing to the second. After two rounds of intense competition, the two-time Olympic silver medalist emerged victorious with a total score of 237.0 points. This win marks Schmid's third individual World Cup podium finish of the season, following her first and second-place finishes at the season opener in Lillehammer, Norway. As one of the most decorated skiers in the history of ski jumping, Schmid now boasts a total of 17 individual World Cup wins.
