American Swimmers Dominate Budapest with Multiple World Records

The Swimming World Championships in Budapest, Hungary, witnessed an impressive display of athletic prowess as American swimmers Gretchen Walsh, Kate Douglass, and Regan Smith shattered multiple world records on night four.

Gretchen Walsh, a 21-year-old sensation, made her first appearance in the World Championships in the 25m pool. In the morning heats, she clocked a time of 53.24, which she then lowered in the evening semifinals to 52.87. Just 26 minutes later, Walsh set a new world record in the women's 100m individual medley final with an astonishing time of 55.11 seconds.

Not to be outdone, Walsh's teammate Kate Douglass broke the world record in the women's 200m breaststroke final, finishing in 2 minutes and 12.50 seconds, surpassing her previous record of 2 minutes and 12.72 seconds. Additionally, Regan Smith added another record for the American team by winning the women's 50m backstroke in 25.23 seconds, breaking the previous record held by Canada's Maggie Mac Neil.
