2030 World Cup to Span Three Continents; Saudi Arabia Secures 2034 Hosting

FIFA has officially announced the hosting plans for the 2030 and 2034 FIFA World Cups, marking a milestone in global football. The 2030 tournament will take place across Spain, Portugal, and Morocco, with special celebratory matches in Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay to honor the centenary of the World Cup.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino revealed the decision during a virtual extraordinary Congress, emphasizing the expansion of the tournament to six countries across three continents. \"We are bringing football to more countries and the number of teams has not diluted the quality. It actually enhanced the opportunity,\" Infantino stated. He highlighted that the 2030 World Cup will feature 48 teams and 104 matches, celebrating 100 years of the tournament.

The combined proposal from Morocco, Spain, and Portugal was unanimously approved, with Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay hosting celebratory games in homage to the tournament's rich history. Uruguay, the host of the first World Cup in 1930, along with Argentina and Spain, have previously hosted the event, while Portugal, Paraguay, and Morocco will be first-time hosts.

Looking ahead, Saudi Arabia has secured the 2034 FIFA World Cup, becoming the second Middle Eastern nation to host the prestigious event, following Qatarโ€™s 2022 edition. The bid from Saudi Arabia received strong support from the Asian Football Confederation, ensuring its selection after Australia and Indonesia withdrew their joint bid.

These decisions reflect FIFA's commitment to fostering global participation and celebrating the diverse heritage of football. The upcoming World Cups promise to be historic, uniting fans from around the world in celebration of the beautiful game.
