The Shanghai E-Sports Masters has officially begun at the Jing'an Sports Center, drawing nearly 100 players from around the globe. From Wednesday to Sunday, competitors will vie for the top spot in four thrilling games: Honor of Kings, Valorant, Street Fighter 6, and Naraka: Bladepoint.
The opening ceremony set an electrifying tone, showcasing a strong esports vibe and cutting-edge technology. Dignitaries from the Shanghai municipal government and Jing'an District joined the chairman of the local Esports Association in a ceremonial start, inserting electronic cards into a slot to ignite the festivities.
Over the next five days, the competition will determine the champions in each of the featured games. The first event, Honor of Kings, saw eight teams battling fiercely to secure a place in Thursday's semifinals. Luo Siyuan, also known as Huahai, made history by winning China's first gold medal in esports at the Hangzhou Asian Games last year. Representing Honor of Kings at the opening ceremony, Luo expressed his excitement: \"I think it is a great honor to be able to represent Honor of Kings and attend the Opening Ceremony. Compared to the league, the overall schedule for the Masters is more compact, and there will be more interaction with the fans. Personally, I will try my best to participate in the competition, and I also hope to have another chance to fight for our country.\" Despite his team's impressive performance, Wuhan eStarPro was unexpectedly defeated by Xi'an WE, who advanced to face Nanjing Hero Jiujing in the semifinals. The other semifinal match features Hangzhou LGD.NBW against Jinan Rogue Warriors.
The Shanghai E-Sports Masters not only highlights the competitive spirit of players but also fosters a vibrant community of fans and enthusiasts. With its blend of high-stakes competition and fan interaction, the event is set to be a memorable showcase of the global esports scene.
