Thrilling Finish at 2024 BWF China Masters in Shenzhen

The 2024 BWF China Masters, the final 750 event leading to the year-end Finals, wrapped up on Sunday at the state-of-the-art Shenzhen Sports Center.

Over 200 players from more than 20 countries and regions converged in Shenzhen, showcasing top-tier badminton and determining the last spots for the prestigious year-end Finals.

In a dramatic mixed doubles final, the Chinese duo Feng Yanzhe and Huang Dongping overcame an 18-match losing streak on their season to defeat Malaysia's Hoo Pang Ron and Cheng Su Yin with a score of 2-1, securing their sixth title of the season. Reflecting on their hard-fought victory, Huang remarked, \"Although we lost the first game, we managed to catch up after falling significantly behind. Feng and I kept encouraging each other, reminding one another to believe in ourselves and trust each other.\"

The women's singles competition saw South Korea's Olympic champion An Se-young triumph over China's Gao Fangjie. Gao expressed her determination to improve, stating, \"This match allowed me to see the gap between us, giving me greater motivation to enhance my performance.\"

In the women's doubles final, Chinese pair Liu Shengshu and Tan Ning defeated their compatriots Li Yijing and Luo Xumin 2-0. Tan shared, \"This match wasn't easy because we are quite familiar with each other. However, we were better prepared and determined to seek revenge and secure the gold medal on home soil.\"

Looking ahead, the BWF World Tour Finals will take place in Hangzhou next month, where the qualified Chinese players will aim for top honors. Additionally, the newly renovated Shenzhen Sports Center, fresh from hosting the China Masters, is set to be a key venue for the 15th National Games scheduled for 2025.
