Beijing Ducks Soar Past Liaoning Flying Leopards in CBA Club Cup

The Beijing Ducks continued their impressive streak in the CBA Club Cup by defeating the Liaoning Flying Leopards 90-78 in Qingdao on Wednesday. Anunwa Omot led the charge with a game-high 20 points, securing Beijing's second consecutive win in Group D.

This matchup marked the first encounter between the season's top team, Beijing, and the three-time defending champions, Liaoning. The game was also the first face-off for Liaoning coach Yang Ming against Beijing's new coach Xu Limin. Despite missing several key players and last seasonโ€™s Finals MVP Kyle Fogg, Liaoning started strong with veteran center Han Dejun scoring the opening six points.

However, Beijing quickly turned the tide, leading by 13 points at half-time. Han continued to perform well, contributing 10 points, and Liaoning's young talents Li Huyi and Zhang Junhao showed promise by narrowing the gap. Nevertheless, Omot's stellar performance, along with five other Beijing players scoring in double figures, ensured a decisive victory in the fourth quarter.

The Ducks remain at the top of Group D with two wins, while Liaoning sits at the bottom, setting the stage for an exciting rivalry in the upcoming league play. Meanwhile, hosts Qingdao secured a win over Nanjing, leaving both teams with one win and one loss. The top two teams from each group will advance to the knockout stage, with the championship to be decided in February.
