Zheng Qinwen of China has earned her spot in the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) Finals set to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from November 2 to 9. Currently ranking seventh on the WTA table, Zheng outperformed competitors Emma Navarro, Danielle Collins, and Daria Kasatkina to secure her qualification.
This achievement marks Zheng's first appearance in the year-end competitions, making her the second Chinese player to participate in the Finals since Li Na in 2013. Following her gold medal win in women's singles at the 2024 Summer Olympic Games in Paris, Zheng has been actively competing in numerous matches. However, to recover from fatigue and an adductor strain in her left leg, she withdrew from the Ningbo Open.
Speaking at a press conference, Zheng expressed her disappointment about missing the Ningbo Open but emphasized the importance of her health and recovery. She hopes to participate in the tournament next year and focuses on ensuring a full recovery in time for the Finals.
