Top seed Sun Yingsha of the Chinese mainland has advanced to the women's singles quarterfinals at the World Table Tennis (WTT) China Smash in Beijing. She triumphed over her compatriot Liu Weishan with scores of 11-4, 11-5, 4-11, 11-2 on Thursday.
Commenting on her victory, Sun stated, \"We are very familiar with each other and we both played with good form. Liu Weishan has shown her style too. As the competition goes on, the matches will be closer. I will do my best in every battle.\"
In the next round, Sun will face sixth-seeded Mima Ito of Japan, who secured her spot by defeating Kim Na-yeong in five games.
Other notable matches included Chinese qualifier Fan Siqi defeating Sakura Mori of Japan and fourth-seeded Chen Xingtong advancing after a sweeping win against Chen Yi. The tournament continues to showcase top talent as competitors vie for the coveted title.
