Tang and Sun Break Asian Records at National Swimming Championships

In an impressive display of speed and skill, Tang Qianting and Sun Jiajun set new Asian records at the National Swimming Championships held in Wuhan, Hubei Province.

Tang Qianting, hailing from Shanghai, shattered her own Asian record in the semifinals of the women's 50m breaststroke with a remarkable time of 28.95 seconds. The 20-year-old Olympic silver medalist from the 2024 Paris Summer Games showcased her dominance by securing gold in the 100m breaststroke earlier in the competition.

Sun Jiajun, a native of Hubei, overwhelmed the competition in the men's 50m breaststroke semifinals. The Paris Olympics gold medalist in the men's 4ร—100m medley relay clocked an astonishing 25.72 seconds, surpassing the previous Asian record held by Yan Zibei.

In other standout performances, Wang Yichun of Shandong claimed gold in the women's 100m butterfly with a time of 56.06 seconds, while 17-year-old Chen Lu from Fujian, the world youth record holder in the women's 200m butterfly, secured second place. Additionally, Yu Zidi from Hebei excelled in the women's 400m individual medley, finishing with a time of 4 minutes and 30.21 seconds.

These stellar performances highlight the rising talent and competitive spirit in the realm of Asian swimming, setting the stage for future international competitions.
