China's top-ranked men's tennis player, Zhang Zhizhen, secured a spot in the quarterfinals of the ATP Hangzhou Open with a commanding 6-3, 6-0 victory over Italy's Mattia Bellucci on Saturday.
In the first set, Bellucci saved a break point while trailing 4-3, but Zhang converted the break and took the set 6-3 with a powerful serve.
The 27-year-old rising star showcased his skills on home soil for the first time since reaching the fourth round of the Shanghai Masters last October.
Zhang dominated the second set with several exciting shots that thrilled the crowd, wrapping up the match in just 77 minutes. With this impressive performance, he now faces Spain's Roberto Carballes Baena in the quarterfinals.
In another quarterfinal matchup, Zhang's Chinese compatriot, Bu Yunchaokete, will meet Kazakhstan's Mikhail Kukushkin for their first-ever encounter.
