Bayern Munich Launches Champions League Journey Under New Coach Kompany

Bayern Munich, the six-time European champions, are set to kick off their UEFA Champions League campaign tonight as they host Croatia's Dinamo Zagreb.

Under the leadership of new head coach Vincent Kompany, a former Belgium international, Bayern enters the group stage with high hopes of reaching the prestigious final, scheduled to be held at their iconic Allianz Arena in May.

Despite the absence of key right-backs Sacha Boey, who is sidelined for several weeks following meniscus surgery, and Josip Stanisic, the team remains optimistic. Kompany, celebrating his first Champions League match as Bayern's head coach, has guided the team to a four-game winning streak since taking over—three in the Bundesliga and one in the German Cup.

\"So I'm not someone that's going to start feeling sorry for myself because we lost a player. And yes, we have an injury. Yes, it's two right-backs. But we will find a solution. We have a team to do it. And we have the time tonight and tomorrow to discuss what we think is the best solution. But the one priority is to win the next game without anything negative about the situation that we're in. It's a shame, but we're going to deal with it,\" Kompany stated.
