Ligue 1 Orders PSG to Pay Mbappe €55M in Unpaid Wages

Ligue 1's legal commission has ruled that Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) must pay Kylian Mbappe €55 million (approximately $61 million) in unpaid wages, the French top football league announced on Thursday.

The decision comes after Mbappe rejected a mediation offer from the commission just a day earlier in his dispute with PSG. The striker, who left PSG this summer as a free agent to join Real Madrid, brought the issue to the commission, citing nonpayment of three months' salary and the final third of a loyalty bonus.

PSG has responded by stating they have no intention of complying with the order and plan to pursue further legal action. \"In light of the limitations of the commission's legal scope to take a complete decision on this matter, the matter must now be contested in another legal forum,\" the club said. They added that they will present all the facts in the coming months and year.

According to PSG, Mbappe had agreed to relinquish bonuses related to his reintegration into the team ahead of the 2023-24 campaign and was sidelined after choosing not to extend his contract. The club emphasized Mbappe's commitments and the benefits he received over seven years with PSG.

Mbappe left a significant mark at PSG, scoring a club record 256 goals and providing 108 assists in 308 appearances. His contributions were instrumental in securing six Ligue 1 titles and four Coupe de France trophies during his tenure.
