Lewis Sherr, CEO of the United States Tennis Association (USTA), has commended China Media Group (CMG) for their exceptional broadcasting of the U.S. Open, which concluded on September 8. Sherr expressed his enthusiasm for establishing a long-term partnership with CMG to further enhance the global reach of tennis.

This year marked a record participation of players from the Chinese mainland, with 11 athletes competing in the U.S. Open. Notably, Shang Juncheng advanced to the men's singles third round, Wang Yafan reached the women's singles round of 16, and Zheng Qinwen made it to the quarterfinals in the women's event.

Sherr highlighted the growing popularity of tennis worldwide, particularly in China, emphasizing the sport's expanding fan base and increased participation rates in recent years.

In November 2023, CMG and the USTA signed a memorandum of cooperation focusing on the copyright of the U.S. Open, co-organizing tennis tournaments, and promoting youth development of tennis in the Chinese mainland, among other initiatives.

\"CMG is a great partner with which to take the U.S. Open to the world and bring the excitement of the matches from New York to China,\" Sherr remarked. He stressed the importance of ensuring that the Chinese audience can watch their players compete at the U.S. Open, especially as their performances continue to improve in various tournaments.

Looking ahead, Sherr expressed the USTA's intention to build a long-standing partnership with CMG and extended best wishes to CMG in co-hosting the upcoming China Open.
