Chinese Swimmers Achieve Historic 600th Paralympic Gold in Paris
The Chinese team continues to dominate the 2024 Summer Paralympic Games in Paris, securing a total of 74 gold medals and maintaining their lead at the top of the medal table.
On Thursday alone, Chinese athletes brought home 12 golds, nine silvers, and 10 bronzes, marking a significant day of triumphs. Among the standout performances were Lu Dong, Zhang Li, Wang Lichao, and Guo Jincheng, who clinched the mixed 4×50-meter medley relay 20 points final in an impressive time of 2:24.83. This victory not only set a new world record but also marked China's 70th title at the current Para Games and the team's 600th gold medal in the history of the Summer Paralympics.
In the men's 50-meter freestyle S5 final, Guo Jincheng, alongside Wang Lichao and Yuan Weiyi, dominated the pool, securing the top three spots. Guo shattered the existing world record by finishing the race in a remarkable 29.33 seconds, followed by Yuan Weiyi at 30.8 seconds and Wang Lichao at 31.23 seconds.
