A delegation of 65 Chinese mainland athletes, including 59 gold medalists, concluded their three-day visit to Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) on Monday after competing in the Paris Olympics. Prior to their Macao visit, the team spent three days in Hong Kong SAR, continuing a tradition aimed at fostering national pride and strengthening bonds with local communities.
During their stay in Macao, the Olympians engaged in dialogues with young athletes and participated in friendly matches with Macao athletes during meet-and-greet events. The athletes also took the time to visit iconic landmarks and showcased their talents at gala events, performing athletic skills that thrilled enthusiastic crowds.
Athlete representatives expressed their appreciation for the warm welcome received from residents of Macao SAR. They emphasized their hope to inspire the younger generation by sharing their experiences and demonstrating the values of sportsmanship.
\"We received such a warm welcome and appreciation from the residents of Hong Kong SAR and Macao SAR. I didn't expect that we would attract this much attention. Your enthusiasm makes me feel like I'm coming home. I'd like to return here again,\" said swimmer Zhang Yufei, who won one silver and five bronze medals in Paris.
Li Yuehong, who secured his first Olympic title in the men's 25m rapid fire pistol event, added, \"These past few days, I was truly moved by your warmth and passion for sports. I hope we can inspire the younger generation through exchanges, and that they continue to be inspired by Chinese sportsmanship.\"
