Croatian Paralympians Gear Up for Medal Haul at Paris Games

Croatia's track and field Paralympic team is set to make a significant impact at the Paris Games, blending experienced athletes with rising stars. The team is focused on securing a strong medal tally, showcasing determination and exceptional talent.

Leading the charge is Ivan Katanusic, one of Croatia's top medal prospects. The 33-year-old Paralympian views each competition with a fierce mindset. \"When I have the discus in my hand, I see him as an enemy, so I just throw far,\" Katanusic shared.

Katanusic's impressive resume includes a silver medal in the discus event at the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics, along with multiple medals from the World Para Athletics and European Championships. This year, he is confident that the team's combination of seasoned veterans and emerging talent will be Croatia's strength.

\"I hope we, as Paralympians, can win a minimum of seven medals,\" Katanusic expressed his ambition for the team.

Born with a limb deficiency, Katanusic had his leg amputated shortly after birth and learned to walk with a prosthesis by 13 months old. He has since competed alongside non-disabled athletes, demonstrating resilience and determination.

\"I have to thank my mother and my father because they never looked at me as a disabled person,\" Katanusic acknowledged, highlighting the support that has fueled his athletic journey.
