As Chinese mainland Olympians continue their visit to the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), the delegation is bringing joy and excitement to local youth through a series of interactive sports and cultural activities.
The 2024 Paris Olympic swimming gold medalists, Qin Haiyang and Pan Zhanle, visited disciplined services and demonstrated key techniques in breaststroke and freestyle to Hong Kong teenagers. In a creative twist, Qin used Mahjong, an ancient Chinese game, to explain arm movements in breaststroke, making the lesson both engaging and easy to understand.
Champion paddlers from the Paris Olympics also took part in various activities at the Hong Kong Sports Institute. Wang Chuqin competed in an indoor rowing contest with students, while Sun Yingsha and Wang Manyu teamed up to play squash, showcasing their versatility and encouraging young athletes.
Hong Kong teenagers had the unique opportunity to play table tennis with world-renowned players Fan Zhendong and Ma Long. Using unconventional equipment like cooking pot lids and spatulas, the athletes demonstrated adaptability and spirit, sparking laughter and enjoyment among the participants.
\"Hopefully you can feel our great respect and love for you,\" said Chris Tang Ping-keung, secretary for security of the HKSAR government, highlighting the mutual respect and camaraderie fostered during the delegation’s visit.
