Stephen Curry Signs One-Year, $62.6M Extension with Warriors

The Golden State Warriors have secured the services of their star point guard, Stephen Curry, for another year with a $62.6 million contract extension, ESPN reported on Thursday.

This new deal comes as Curry was approaching the end of his four-year, $215.4 million agreement with the Warriors, adding two more years to his tenure with the team.

With this extension, Curry becomes the fourth player in NBA history to surpass $500 million in career earnings, joining the ranks of LeBron James, Paul George, and Kevin Durant.

\"I've always said I want to be a Warrior for life,\" Curry told Andscape in July. \"At this stage in my career, I feel like that's possible.\"

Since being drafted by the Warriors with the seventh pick in 2009, Curry has played 956 regular season games for the team, averaging 24.8 points and 6.4 assists per game. Under his leadership, the Warriors have made 10 playoff appearances in the 21st century, nine of which featured Curry, who averaged 27 points and 6.2 assists per game in the postseason.
