Ronaldo: Eyeing Retirement at Al Nassr, Aims to Continue Playing for Portugal

After kicking off his third season with Al Nassr, Cristiano Ronaldo has hinted that he might retire from professional football while still at the Saudi Arabian club. Speaking to Portuguese channel NOW, the 39-year-old superstar shared his thoughts on his future in the sport.

\"I don't know if I will retire soon, in two or three years, but probably I will retire here at Al Nassr,\" Ronaldo stated. \"I'm very happy at this club, I feel good in this country, too. I'm happy to play in Saudi Arabia and I want to continue.\"

Despite contemplating retirement at Al Nassr, Ronaldo remains committed to his national team. Portugal made it to the quarterfinals at Euro 2024 in Germany before bowing out to France, and Ronaldo expressed his desire to continue contributing to his country's efforts.

\"Right now, what I want is to be able to help the national team in their upcoming matches,\" he said. \"We have the Nations League ahead of us and I would really like to play.\"

When asked about his future beyond playing, Ronaldo dismissed thoughts of transitioning into a coaching role. \"At the moment, I'm not thinking about being a coach of the first team or any team,\" he explained. \"I don't see my future going through that. I see myself doing other things outside of football, but only God knows what the future holds.\"

On the field, Al Nassr secured a significant 4-1 victory against Al Fayha at Al Majma'ah Sports City, marking their first win of the 2024-25 Saudi Pro League season. Ronaldo played a pivotal role by assisting Talisca for the first goal and scoring a free kick to extend the lead. Marcelo Brozovic and Talisca added further goals, ensuring a comfortable win for Al Nassr.
