The Chinese Paralympic delegation is set to depart for Paris on Wednesday in two separate batches, marking their journey to the Paris 2024 Paralympics. The announcement was made during a motivational conference held in Beijing on Tuesday, with all delegation members in attendance.
Cheng Kai, the leader of the Chinese Paralympics delegation and president of China's Disabled Persons Federation, emphasized the importance of self-discipline, resilience, and unwavering faith in achieving victory. He encouraged the athletes to give their all, aiming to create new glorious moments in Paris.
Cheng also advised the athletes to remain humble and avoid rash decisions, pushing themselves beyond their limits to demonstrate the courage and determination of the Chinese delegation to the world. He stressed the importance of winning gold medals ethically and with integrity, while also taking the opportunity to build friendships on a global stage.
The Paris 2024 Paralympics, scheduled from August 28 to September 8, will be the 11th Summer Paralympics in which China has participated. The delegation, established on August 16 in Beijing, comprises 516 members, including 284 athletes. Among the athletes, there are 126 males and 158 females, with an average age of 25.8 years.
As the Chinese Paralympic team prepares to compete on an international level, their focus remains not only on securing medals but also on fostering international camaraderie and showcasing the spirit of perseverance and excellence.
