Record-Breaking Performances: Chinese Athletes Shine at Paris 2024 Olympics

Chinese athletes made a significant mark at the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics, securing six gold medals, two silvers, and one bronze on Wednesday. Their outstanding performances highlight the strength and dedication of the team on the global stage.

In the weightlifting arena, Li Fabin and Hou Zhihui delivered exceptional performances, both setting new Olympic records. Li Fabin triumphed in the men's 61-kilogram competition with a total lift of 310 kilograms, including an impressive 143-kilogram snatch that set a new Olympic record.

Li shared with reporters that he had initially planned to retire after the Games this year. However, the exhilarating experience and the support from the crowd have reignited his passion for the sport, making him consider extending his athletic career.

On the women's side, Hou Zhihui clinched the gold medal in the 49-kilogram division with a total of 206 kilograms. Trailing behind Romania's Mihaela Cambei going into her final clean and jerk attempt, Hou lifted 117 kilograms to not only set a new Olympic record but also secure a remarkable come-from-behind victory.

These achievements underscore the relentless effort and exceptional talent of Chinese athletes, contributing to their nation's impressive medal tally and inspiring future generations of sports enthusiasts.
