Chinese Mainland’s Zou Jingyuan Makes Olympic History with Back-to-Back Parallel Bars Gold

The Chinese mainland's Zou Jingyuan made history at the Paris Summer Olympics by becoming the first athlete since 1976 to secure consecutive gold medals in the men's parallel bars. The 26-year-old gymnast dazzled the judges with a flawless routine, earning a final score of 16.200 points.

Ukraine's Illia Kovtun took home the silver medal with a score of 15.500, marking Ukraine's first gymnastics medal since 2016. Japan's Shinnosuke Oka claimed the bronze, achieving his maiden parallel bars medal and solidifying his status as the men's all-around champion with a score of 15.300 points.

Zou's compatriot, Zhang Boheng, narrowly missed the podium, finishing in fourth place and showcasing the depth of talent within the Chinese gymnastics team.

Zou's remarkable victory contributes to the Chinese delegation's impressive tally, marking their 21st gold medal at the Paris Summer Olympics. This triumph also represents the second gold for the Chinese mainland's gymnastics team in the French capital, underscoring their dominance in the sport on the global stage.
